Video tools for those who want to make things easy

Video tools website

These are the pieces of software that I use when creating video content and trust me, if I can use them anybody can.

Snapz Pro

This is a really simple piece of Mac software that only costs about £45 ($69). Snapz Pro records whatever is on the screen, so it’s a perfect way to play a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation and talk it through or create “How To” on screen demonstrations because it records the computer sound and can also record through the microphone sound at the same time.

This is another screen recording software, but there are Mac and PC versions. The amazing thing about Camtasia is that the editing features are simple to use and can take something quite basic and turn it in to something quite special and professional in little or no time.

Cropping video is fast, you can merge videos and add things like soundtracks, highlight certain parts of the screen to emphasise what you want at the point you want to and much more, with Chroma key tools, video effects, built in animations and even the ability to add clickable hotspots to your video.

Screen Flow

Here’s another Mac based screen capture software (I guess buy now you are starting to see a theme to how I create videos). This software does a great job of on screen video but also has some really powerful editing tools and filters to add professional effects to your work and if you want to put yourself in the video, Chroma key (green screen) functionality.

The other thing is that as well as record and edit your masterpiece, the software makes publishing to sites like YouTube and Vimeo easy too.

A video site map

SEO relevant video description that is keyword friendly
A transcript of the video, if people are speaking in it
The ability to share the video using social networks
A URL that makes sense to the search engines which is also SEO relevant

So get out your video camera, iPhone or other video capture device and start using video as a way to out rank your competitors and promote to your potential customers when they head to a search engine.

Video is a great way to differentiate yourself form the competition.

Using video is an easy way to combat the restrictions of smartphones, as a small screen is no barrier to video and the consumption of your message.
